Around the world, it is been integrated into mobile phone networks to ease the demand put on such networks. Wireless Communication.
When the first wireless connection, mobile data became available many years ago. Mainly used in the early stages by IT professionals and for business use. One of our founders started using the internet as early as 1994. Sharing programs he was developing with his colleague. In 1997 while away from the office, for work or pleasure he would connect his Ericsson GF768 mobile phone to his laptop to access client's computer networks for support purposes. The speed back then meant long time delays waiting for the screen to slowly appear. Today his preferences are Ethernet cable, WiFi and then mobile data and would seek WiFi on his travels paying for it over mobile data.
How Did IT Become So Common?
Things changed with the introduction of the smartphone and the mobile network providers have had to deploy better connection protocols. This is a slow and expensive process which has given WiFi the upper hand. It is much cheaper to deploy, easier to connect to with no need for a SIM card. Once WiFi is available where you are and you have a capable device you can connect, share files and carry out most tasks you need to.
We have heard some great comments about it on our travels, “Students need WiFi more than they need water”, "What do you mean you have no WiFi” and the most common sign you will see today is “ WiFi available here”.
